Clarence "Ed" Graves Jr. Passes Away After a Long Battle with Health Issues, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Friendship and Community

Clarence "Ed" Graves Jr., a beloved figure known for his work in the auto industry, his time at Virginia State University, and his passion for promoting concerts, passed away on March 28, 2026.

Ed was a cherished member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Nu Psi Chapter at Virginia State University, and his presence in the community was unforgettable. He was a dedicated father, leaving behind fond memories for his family and friends.

His son, Shea Lawson, expressed the family’s sorrow in a heartfelt message, explaining that Ed had been struggling with severe dementia and other health complications for some time. Despite his battles, Ed's resilience and spirit shone through until the very end.

In an outpouring of online support, friends and family expressed their grief. "Once you met him, you would never forget him," Lawson shared, as loved ones rallied to support the family through this difficult time.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to assist with the funeral expenses, helping honor Ed’s memory with a beautiful homegoing. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to those offering support during this time of loss.
