Eugene Wilkerson Remembered After June 13, 2026 Report Of Quarry Lake Loss In Aurora, Ohio
Eugene “EJ” Wilkerson, a bright young person connected to the Bedford Heights community, died after an emergency at Quarry Lake in Aurora, Ohio.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon near the 300 block of Treat Road, where a 911 caller reported a teenager struggling in deep water around 4 p.m.
The Aurora Fire Department and Portage County Water Rescue Team responded quickly and searched for more than two hours.
Divers found Eugene around 6:15 p.m., about ten feet underwater and roughly twenty-five feet from shore.
Emergency medical workers tried to help, but officials pronounced Eugene deceased at the lake.
