The Ruskin-Wimauma community mourns the loss of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremiah Stewart, who was found deceased outside a home on the morning of March 3, 2026.

A family member discovered the 36-year-old deputy shortly after 7:20 a.m., prompting an immediate response and deep sorrow among loved ones and colleagues.

Stewart served seven years with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and most recently worked patrol in District IV, where fellow deputies remembered the officer as dependable and steady during every shift.

Before joining local law enforcement, Stewart spent six years serving in the United States Army and completed a deployment to Afghanistan in 2012.

Friends and coworkers often described Stewart as a dedicated public servant who carried a strong sense of duty from military service into daily work protecting the community.

Sheriff Chad Chronister acknowledged the department’s grief and said the loss deeply affected deputies and staff across the agency.

Community members also shared messages of sympathy online, with many honoring Stewart’s commitment to service and offering support to the grieving family.

Officials said memorial service details will be announced by the family at a later time as the community continues to remember Stewart’s life and service.
