Joanne Mcelyea, a devoted mother of three whose courage and determination inspired everyone around her, passed away on April 12, 2026, after facing significant health challenges.

Despite being told in 1998 that she would be paralyzed for life, Joanne defied medical expectations and lived with strength and resilience, earning admiration from her family and community.

Since 2023, Joanne underwent multiple medical procedures, including two back surgeries and open heart surgery, and in 2025 became paralyzed, requiring round-the-clock care. Her daughter Danielle Murray lovingly devoted herself as Joanne’s caregiver, leaving her full-time job to ensure her mother received constant support and comfort.

Friends and community members shared heartfelt condolences online, remembering Joanne as a selfless, loving individual who prioritized her family above all. One comment read, "Joanne's courage and love touched everyone who knew her. She will always be remembered."

A GoFundMe campaign has been organized to cover Joanne’s medical bills and cremation costs, as well as to support Danielle during this difficult time.
