Juliane Ponge-Krei, Beloved Wife and Mother, Passes Away After Battle with Leiomyosarcoma in Burlington, VT

Juliane Ponge-Krei passed away peacefully in March 2026 after a courageous battle with leiomyosarcoma, a fast-growing tumor. She was surrounded by the love and care of her family in her final weeks.

Born in 1972, Juliane was a dedicated wife to her husband Steffen Krei for 25 years, and a loving mother to their two daughters, aged 30 and 22. She is also deeply mourned by her mother in Germany, who has lost her only child.

From 2005 to 2018, Juliane ran an interior design and fabric business in Germany, and she hoped to establish a similar venture in the United States. She was actively involved in the Vermont Womenpreneurs community and participated in the German Stammtisch group, where she valued tradition and cherished sharing it with others.

Just weeks before her passing, Juliane was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma. Her family respected her final wish to return to Germany to be with loved ones and friends. A fundraiser was organized by friends and family to bring her remains back home and cover funeral costs, with Steffen expressing his heartfelt desire to honor her last wish.

The community is deeply touched by Juliane's kindness, and tributes have poured in from all who knew her. "Her spirit and the joy she shared will never be forgotten," said one friend on social media.

Details about the memorial services will be shared soon, and her family is grateful for the support during this difficult time.
