Maria Ramirezahmad Tragically Dies in Fatal San Clemente Crash Following High-Speed Pursuit
Maria Ramirezahmad, 53, of Anaheim, tragically passed away on March 31, 2026, after being involved in a fatal crash in San Clemente. The accident occurred when deputies attempted to stop a stolen U-Haul truck. The driver of the truck, identified as Matthew Alexander Ronquillo, refused to pull over, leading to a high-speed chase.
Around 8 a.m., the fleeing vehicle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Avenida Granada and Ola Vista, just half a mile from where the pursuit began. Ramirezahmad, who was driving the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash also critically injured three adult female passengers traveling with Ramirezahmad. They were immediately transported to the hospital for treatment. A passenger in the U-Haul, Gregorio Horacio Trejochavez, remained at the scene and was later taken to the hospital before being arrested for a probation violation.
Ronquillo fled on foot after the crash but was quickly apprehended by authorities, with the help of a sheriff’s helicopter and a K9 unit. He was later taken to a hospital and booked into the Orange County Jail, facing multiple charges, including felony evasion and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Details regarding memorial services for Ramirezahmad will be announced by family members soon.
