Michael Vebert, Fort Wayne Resident and Devoted Community Member, Dies in State Road 8 Crash in Marshall County, IN
Michael Vebert, 46, of Fort Wayne, passed away on March 24, 2026, following a severe traffic collision on State Road 8 in Marshall County.
Authorities reported that Vebert was driving eastbound in a 2008 Mercury Sable when the vehicle approached the intersection with State Road 17 and did not yield, leading to a collision with a southbound semi-tractor-trailer.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Vebert was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers traveling with Vebert sustained injuries and were transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where they continue to receive care.
The driver of the semi, identified as Mitchell Sailor of Elkhart, remained unharmed and declined medical attention.
Community members in Fort Wayne remember Vebert as a caring neighbor and loyal friend whose presence brought comfort to many.
