Navya Gadusu, 25, Remembered After Fatal I-65 Crash Near Crown Point, Indiana, During Late-Night Ride
Navya Gadusu, 25, a Chicago resident with roots in Cheruvugattu in India’s Nalgonda district, died after a late-night crash on northbound Interstate 65 near Crown Point, Indiana, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The crash happened around 11:15 p.m., about one mile south of the Crown Point exit, while a red 2016 Dodge minivan carrying seven people moved at about 10 to 15 miles per hour behind a vehicle with mechanical trouble.
A 2015 Chevrolet Suburban approached from behind and struck the back left side of the minivan as its driver tried to move left.
The impact sent the minivan off the road and into a ditch, while two people in the front seats remained unhurt and five people in the back received severe injuries.
Navya later died at a hospital, and authorities closed northbound I-65 for roughly two hours while they reviewed the scene.
Memorial and funeral details will be announced later by family members.
