Pappa Grieve Stewy, Beloved “Gentle Giant” and Community Advocate, Passes Away After Courageous Battle with Health Challenges in England
Pappa Grieve Stewy, affectionately known as Stewy, passed away following a series of serious health complications, leaving family, friends, and the community in heartfelt mourning.
Renowned as "The Gentle Giant" and celebrated for his humor and warmth, Stewy dedicated nearly 30 years to the NHS, becoming the first male phlebotomist and driving out-of-hours doctors. Beyond his professional contributions, he enriched the local community by organizing motorcycle shows in Lowestoft, founding Whirlwind Promotions, and hosting numerous charity, Christmas, and Valentine’s events.
Stewy faced long-term health struggles with resilience, managing trigeminal neuralgia and later hydrocephalus, undergoing treatments with remarkable courage. In February 2026, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and in late March, a brain bleed and aneurism further complicated his condition, marking his final days.
Family members, including his children Jamie and Angie, and granddaughter Khaleesi, cherished every moment with him during this difficult time. Social media tributes highlighted his profound impact: “Stewy was the kindest soul; he brought joy to everyone he met,” wrote one friend.
A fundraiser has been set up to assist the family with funeral arrangements, reflecting the deep love and admiration the community holds for Stewy. Memorial service details will be announced by the family.
