Alexander Tate, 19, of Salem Remembered After Thursday Night Rollover Crash in Marion County
Alexander Tate, a 19-year-old from Salem, passed away Thursday night, May 7, 2026, after a single-vehicle rollover crash in Marion County.
Emergency responders were called shortly before 9 p.m. to Cross Road, just west of Robin Road, southeast of Salem.
Authorities said the vehicle left the roadway, struck a power pole, and rolled several times before crews arrived.
Marion County Coroner Claude Howell pronounced Alexander Tate deceased at the scene after officials reported fatal blunt force trauma injuries.
Officials said Alexander Tate was alone in the vehicle, and no other motorists were involved.
Illinois State Police continue to investigate what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Salem Fire Protection District, and United Medical Response assisted at the scene, and Cross Road stayed closed for about two hours.
