Leesa Woolfolk, Beloved Educator and Mentor, Remembered for Lifelong Dedication to Youth and Community in Washington, DC

Leesa Woolfolk, a devoted teacher and mentor, passed away, leaving a lasting impact on the Washington, DC community through her dedication to education and the arts.

Born and raised in Washington, DC, Leesa was a proud graduate of McKinley Tech High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Master’s from the University of the District of Columbia.

Crowned Miss Black DC, Leesa committed her life to teaching Spanish in DC Public Schools and sharing her love for dance, inspiring countless young people to embrace their heritage and pursue their dreams.

Friends and former students have come together to honor Leesa’s legacy, launching a fundraiser to cover funeral and burial expenses. Amber Wilson, the organizer, highlighted Leesa’s generosity, saying, "Her life was a testament to the power of community and education, and now we give back to her in the way she gave to us."

Leesa’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her spirit lives on through the students she guided and the lives she touched. Memorial service details will be announced by family members at a later time.
