Marissa R. Rand, 18-Year-Old Student, Dies After Tragic Self-Inflicted Gunshot Incident at Valley Forge High School in Parma Heights, Ohio

Marissa R. Rand, an 18-year-old student from Parma, Ohio, passed away Monday afternoon following a tragic incident at Valley Forge High School in Parma Heights.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. inside the school cafeteria, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and emergency personnel.

First responders provided urgent medical care before transporting Marissa to a nearby hospital, where they later succumbed to injuries.

Officials confirmed that the incident involved only one individual and posed no ongoing risk to others on campus.

Witnesses described a deeply emotional scene as students were quickly guided away for safety.

“I was leaving my last class when I saw the officer yelling for everyone to move,” one student shared, adding that many were visibly distressed.

School officials implemented safety measures and arranged support services, while the school remained closed Tuesday and Wednesday to allow time for counseling.
