Max Mettao, a 24-year-old from Oahu, died after a multi-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon, June 5, 2026.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Moanalua Road eastbound near the split leading to the Moanalua Freeway and North King Street.
Authorities said the vehicle carrying five young people traveled at high speed before the crash affected four vehicles.
Max rode as a passenger, and emergency crews provided immediate lifesaving care before officials pronounced Max dead at the scene.
Firefighters and medical personnel assisted people inside damaged vehicles, used hydraulic tools to free one occupant, and transported several others to nearby hospitals.
