Nydashia McClain, 20, died late Monday night around 11:00 p.m. in the 2600 block of North Wesleyan Boulevard in Rocky Mount.
Emergency crews responded after reports of a crash and found McClain critically hurt at the scene, where authorities later pronounced McClain deceased.
The Rocky Mount Police Department said the driver left before officials arrived, and the Traffic Enforcement Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to review the events leading to the crash.
Friends and community members described McClain as young, present, and full of life as they mourn a sudden loss that has deeply affected those who knew McClain.
