Steven Coan Remembered After New Bedford Passing As Officials Review Late Night Incident Near Acushnet Avenue And Russell Street
Steven Coan, a 31-year-old from New Bedford, passed away after officials responded just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night near Acushnet Avenue and Russell Street.
Officers found Steven inside a 2022 gray Honda Accord, and emergency personnel brought Steven to St. Luke’s Hospital, where Steven was pronounced deceased.
Authorities said the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, working with Bristol County DA Thomas M. Quinn III and local Major Crimes detectives, continues to review the circumstances.
Neighbor Lorenzo Everette told investigators about hearing two pops and shared that detectives asked for Ring camera recordings from the area.
Officials had not released a motive or description as of the May 8, 2026 report.
Family members are expected to announce obituary and funeral service details at a later time.
