Ivy Unruh, a 25-year-old Marine veteran and valued employee at PBS Kansas, passed away on April 20, 2026, after sustaining critical injuries days earlier in Wichita, Kansas.

Authorities responded to an early morning emergency on April 17 in the 7200 block of East 37th Street North, where Unruh was found seriously injured outside an apartment complex.

Medical teams rushed Unruh to a nearby hospital, where they fought to save her life for three days before confirming her passing.

Unruh had proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 2020 to 2024 and later continued contributing to the community through work at PBS Kansas.

Friends and community members remembered Unruh as dedicated, resilient, and compassionate, with many expressing grief online.

One message read, "This loss feels unimaginable, sending prayers to family and friends," while another shared, "A life full of promise taken far too soon."

A fundraiser has raised over $16,000 to support funeral expenses, reflecting the deep impact Unruh had on those around her.
